The Student Festival is so much fun, we created our own team just to keep coming back! PRISM, a group of ex-student archers, had a fantastic time once again at the 2010 Festival, particularly taking part in the new Clout archery competition. We filled the spare days being tourists, and on the ferry home were already thinking about what to do next year. Brilliant!

I am a Lithuanian student studying in the UK. I am one of the archers who represented my University in the
Isle of Man Student Festival of Sport in 2009. It was the most exiting event of this academic year!
If I were to choose one thing that I liked most, it would be the atmosphere of the sports event at the National Sports Centre. Students from many different universities were talking, playing games, singing and helping each other throughout the event. A lot of people had attended this Festival before and already knew each other, others met for the first time, but everyone was one big group having great time.
Our trip to the Island included quite a bit of sightseeing. I can still see the view from the top of Snaefell Mountain as well as the seaside cliffs in Laxey when I close my eyes. Taking the steam train and visiting tourist attractions was pleasant, while the museums enriched our knowledge about the history of the Island. I found the Manx locals to always be friendly, and even happy to see a large group of students! Everyone we met treated us with respect; even a VIP attended our welcome meeting!
The archery competition itself was very well organised; the Isle of Man Archery Club did a great job of looking after 140 students over two days of competition and four rounds of shooting! It was quite exhausting as us beginner archers are not used to shooting so many arrows in a day, but it was great fun nonetheless.
All in all, I enjoyed every moment of this trip and will gladly come back to the Isle of Man again.
